Am I The Only One Who Realizes Obama Has An Electability Problem???

I believe it would be absolutely fatal to us democrats this year if Obama is the nominee. Look at the current General election polls in states democrats need to win.
New Jersey is usally democratic and Clinton wins it against McCain but if it’s McCain vs Obama McCain wins it or in some cases ties with Obama but New Jersey usually always votes democrat so the democrat should be ahead but in this case no.
Swing states like Ohio, McCain wins big over Obama but Hillary wins over McCain. Pennsylvania, McCain wins over Obama but loses it to Hillary. Florida, McCain wins over Obama BIG but is in a dead heat with Hillary.
Not to mention nearly every state Obama won has voted Republican in over the past 40 years and democrats usually never carry them and if this primary season was based on electoral votes then Hillary would be crushing Obama.
I think the superdelegates need to pay really close attention to this and ask themselves if they want to win or not.

All of the candidates have electability problems. I think Obama’s are more easily overcome than the Clintons’ or McCain’s.
The Clintons have a long history of deceit and scandal and then there is the factor of Clinton fatigue. They’ve already had their two terms. I think that is enough. We have term limits for a reason. You may be able to separate the Clintons but to me they are a married unit (and they claimed that in the 1990s and Hillary claims it as her experience).

In the general election the Republicans will rip him apart, you will see so many commercials about that preacher guy it will drive you up the wall, they will use the typical scare tactics and scare so many people and believe me it will be non stop. Sorry to say it but Obama’s relationship with the crazy preacher has doomed him. If Obama is the Democratic nominee just prepare yourself for Mcbush for president.

Dem primary voters have consistantly out number republican primary voters 2-1 this year.
If that does not scream that any Democrat is more electable than any Republican. I don’t know what does.

First, I am independent, and have voted for both democrats and republicans for president over the years.
To answer your question, no. I realize Obama has electability problems. Hillary does too.
Six months ago I thought that ANY democrat could win over any republican. Not now.
Hillary and Obama have aired so much dirty laundry about each other that I don’t believe either of them is electable.
If the superdelegates pick Hillary even though Obama has the most delegates its going to get really ugly and they all know it.
I will leave it at that.

Yes. “You are the only one who realizes Obama has an electability problem.”
Obama is ahead by 157 pledged delegates. He won more states, more popular votes, more super delegates, so far.
All the latest polls, (Quinippiac, Bloomberg, LA Times, NY Times< etc) projected that Obama will come out a winner, even if clinton wins in PA>

Yes! Great point! Now I am jumping for joy, so that even if he does win the primary, we can be assured he has an awfully low chance of winning the general election.

No questin about it, especially with the race issue and his wifes view. Here read some of the exerts from her thesis, Shocking:
    OBAMA’S MILITANT RACISM REVEALED

In her senior thesis at Princeton, Michele Obama, the wife of Barack Obama stated that America was a nation founded on crime and hatred. Moreover, she stated that whites in America were ineradicably racist. The 1985 thesis, titled “Princeton-Educated Blacks and the Black Community” was written under her maiden name, Michelle LaVaughn Robinson.
Michelle Obama stated in her thesis that to “Whites at Princeton , it often seems as if, to them, she will always be Black first…” However, it was reported by a fellow black classmate, If those “Whites at Princeton ” really saw Michelle as one who always would “be Black first,” it seems that she gave them that impression.
Most alarming is Michele Obama’s use of the terms separationist and integrationist when describing the views of black people.
Mrs. Obama clearly identifies herself with a separationist view of race.
By actually working with the Black lower class or within their communities as a result of their ideologies, a separationist may better understand the desperation of their situation and feel more hopeless about a resolution as opposed to an integrationist who is ignorant to their plight.
Obama writes that the path she chose by attending Princeton would likely lead to her “further integration and/or assimilation into a white cultural and social structure that will only allow me to remain on the periphery of society; never becoming a full participant.”
Michele Obama clearly has a chip on her shoulder.
Not only does she see separate black and white societies in America , but she elevates black over white in her world.

Here is another passage that is uncomfortable and ominous in meaning:
There was no doubt in my mind that as a member of the black community, I am obligated to this community and will utilize all of my present and future resources to benefit the black community first and foremost.
What is Michelle Obama planning to do with her future resources if she’s first lady that will elevate black over white in America ?
The following passage appears to be a call to arms for affirmative action policies that could be the hallmark of an Obama administration.
Predominately white universities like Princeton are socially and academically designed to cater to the needs of the white students comprising the bulk of their enrollments.
The conclusion of her thesis is alarming.
Michelle Obama’s poll of black alumni concludes that other black students at Princeton do not share her obsession with blackness. But rather than celebrate, she is horrified that black alumni identify with our common American culture more than they value the color of their skin. I hoped that these findings would help me conclude that despite the high degree of identification with whites as a result of the educational and occupational path that black Princeton alumni follow, the alumni would still maintain a certain level of identification with the black community However, these findings do not support this possibility.
Is it no wonder that most black alumni ignored her racist questionnaire? Only 89 students responded out of 400 who were asked for input.
Michelle Obama does not look into a crowd of Obama supporters and see Americans. She sees black people and white people eternally conflicted with one another.
    …
The thesis provides a trove of Mrs. Obama’s thoughts and world view seen through a race-based prism.
This is a very divisive view for a potential first lady that would do untold damage to race relations in this country in a Barack Obama administration.
Michelle Obamai’s intellectually refined racism should give all Americans pause for deep concern.
    …
Now maybe she’s changed, but she sure sounds like someone with an axe to grind with America . Will the press let Michelle get a free pass over her obviously racist comment about American whites? I am sure that it will. But it shouldn’t.
    FYI:
I am not a supporter of any of the candidates for president. In fact, they all leave a bad taste in my mouth. However, I am definitely sick of the main stream media (MSM) feeding us all this crap about Obama being an agent of change.
Has anyone stopped to think what kind of change; really?

PS: We paid for her scholarship.

If you are the only one who believes that than your statement is obviously not accurate.
The electoral votes argument is way lame. The fact is this: Hillary has won the traditional democratic states- the ones where there is NO danger of them going republican no matter who the dem candidate is!
You need to win a republican state to win the presidency, duh. You cant get the same states as 2004 and expect to win.

Polls are useless right now, and Obama is beating McCain in red states of Iowa, NV, CO, and is doing better in CA and NY than Hillary is…McCain is actually within 3 pts of Hillary in CA, a Dem stronghold.

Well, I am not so sure. You do raise good points about current polling in the swing states, but Nationally Obama still has the lead, according to pew research (below). One thing we do know is that polling results change constantly. I really have a hard time seeing Clinton winning in the general due to the fact that she is a Clinton and we all know how repuglicans feel about her husband… I think we would see a greater turnout of repuglicans in the general is a Clinton is on the ballot.
Additionally, the electoral college argument makes about as much sense as which states have more syllables. Because Hillary has won traditional democratic states says nothing about her ability to win traditionally republican states where Obama has been winning. In the general it would only take a few traditional repuglican states to have the GE swing toward Obama. I don’t think Hillary has that ability.

Yes, you are the only person. Ever. Only one.
If we all vote for whoever is “electable,” then we’re not really putting the people we WANT to represent us in office, are we? Which means that we don’t really have a true democracy, do we?
Voting is not about winning. It’s about beliefs. It’s about who you genuinely believe will do your country best. If you vote to win, you’re guilty of group-think, which ruins democracy. If you vote to win, we all lose.
Vote based on your personal beliefs, and rest assured that if someone ELSE gets into office and the world then goes to hell, you nonetheless did your part as a free American and stuck to the virtues on which our country was founded.

He may have a Super Vicious Press Agent and many vicious and hard working followers, but he’s not prepared to be President, and has bad judgment, and a world order agenda, and McCain would blow holes in all his stories, and shut down his double-talk.
Hillary can face McCain and Win!

    It’s simple…
In order to win the General Election, you need to win most of the “key” states like the ones Hillary has won….NJ, NY, NV, TX, FL, OH,CA…..
We’ve seen Obama can’t win those…Most of his wins come from over populated Black states that are Red, and he’ll have a much bigger challenge with McCain on those.

I think your problem is you are stuck in a red/blue dichotomy.
The fact that Obama wins means that he appeals to democratic voters more than Hillary-no matter WHAT state they are in.
I wont make this a long drawn out answer but Hillary’s margin of victory in the states she won was small. It also only reflects the knee jerk democrats. They are going to vote Dem no matter what. Obama can win the states she’s won plus pull independents and sincerely disaffected Republicans (not Operation Rushbots)

I have noticed he can’t win hardly any big blue or purple states.Oh well Democratic leaders are fools.I guess they don’t know how to add up the delegates in November and which one of their candidates will win those states.I am not an Democrat and I am not a Republican like most people in the big purple states were the presidency is decided we won’t vote based on a party but on qualifications. We don’t care about your social issues.we care about our money,,jobs, environment.who will deliver our needs best and the many things that both parties have been neglecting.Remember the working class.
