Did The Gop Change Its Mind About Punishing Early Primary States At The Republican Convention?

2009 December 23

Last fall, the GOP announced it would strip HALF the delegates from New Hampshire, Florida, Michigan, Wyoming, and South Carolina at its own Rep. Convention (not at the DNC Convention). See links below.
It made this decision awhile ago, and the Republican party isn’t arguing about it now. They’re very quiet. So quiet, maybe many of you never even noticed it made this decision.
I have just been called ignorant and told to stop drinking kool-aid for mentioning that the Republicans also punished MI and FL for holding early primaries (1/2 vote).
If you have evidence (provide links please) that the GOP is not punishing the states they said they would, please let me know.

CBS News, November 2007:http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2007/11/0…
If I’m wrong, I really want to know.
If I’m right, why is this fact missed by so many?
Thanks!

I don’t know about NH, WY and SC but the RNC has definitely stripped FL and MI of half its delegates to the Republican convention. Perhaps the reason it is not reported is because this seems to be the appropriate way to handle it and the Dems should follow suit. Otherwise I think it is common knowledge and not up for dispute

because the fact that the Dems also penalized their primaries means Dems voted in our elections, and influenced, oh, for example, McCain’s win in the all or nothing state of Florida. That was a turning point in the ‘presumption of the nomination’ and lead to a huge shift in the race.
I don’t think the GOP wants to call attention to it, since the base is already seething.

Ur right its a non issue cause nobody is challenging the republican primaries MCain won and they all respect that. Obama won the democratic primary and hildebeast wont accept that her only chance is to take all of MI’s delegates cause he was not on the ballot. The primary sytem is screwed up in both parties its set up based on a honor system where the loosing candidates bow out clinton is creating all this this technical bs

    What fact?
It’s widely known that because of the early primaries, the GOP took away half the delegates from FL and MI, and the Democrats took away all of them.
I am not sure what you’re asking here… this is all pretty common knowledge, and has been for months.

No the GOP has not changed its’ mind. There is no real need to change as the Republican candidate is pretty much chosen.

I am a delegate and I have never heard that this was happening. It won’t…not after the hell the DNC has gone through!
