Did You Get The Dnc Presidential Campaign Survey In The Mail Today?
2010 January 20
I am just curious what you think of the questions. I found many of them unanswerable. One question on there got me thinking. The question goes:
How concerned are you that Republican voter suppression schemes will disinfranchise Democrats and impact the outcome of the presidential race?
I find it interesting that the DNC disinfranchises Florida and Michigan and then asks this question. Question 14 asks if the media is biased towards democrats or Republicans. It should also ask if the media is biased more towards Obama or Clinton. I sent the questionairre back unanswered and wrote a nice letter about how I will never contribute to the DNC unless they fix the Michigan Florida mess.

This survey had me intrigued at first…until i realized that it was nothing more than a thinly veiled plea for donations. The questions were insultingly general and there was a grand total of fifteen of them. Fifteen! There were more questions on my fifth grade weekly vocabulary exam.
I was also particularly bothered by the question regarding media bias. The options were thus:
The media is biased in favor of Democrats
The media is biased in favor of Republicans
No bias in favor of either party
No opinion/Not sure
Because, what? The media is one organization, with one agenda? Between Fox and the NYT my head is about to explode.
Bottom line: don’t waste your time filling out the survey. Enclose a five-Euro note and tell Howard Dean to buy himself a gallon of gas, on you.
I would be suspicious of a ’snail mail’ survey. The DNC has done some on-line surveys but I can’t find any referrence to one currently done by mail.
I think you did the right thing.
