How Many Of You Are Aware That Obama And Edwards Are Not On The Ballot For The Michigan Primary, January 15th?
(sorry for the double post)
Michigan’s primary this year could be as contentious as florida in the 2000 general election.
Here’s the article:http://www.freep.com/apps/pbcs.dll/artic…

As it turns out, because the michigan democratic party (and or legislature?) violated national party guidlines, michigan will have no delegation at the democratic national convention. (Which means the michigan primary is pretty much pointless). the republican national party cut michigan’s delegation in half for moving the state’s primary up to january without consent. so voting for a democrat will be pretty much pointless, where as your vote will still count if you vote republican, but only by 1/2 as much as it normally would. This is very interesting as Mitt Romney is from michigan, and his father was govorner of the state in the 1960’s.
Also of note George Romney, was a major contender for the 1968 republican presidential race,
Michigan isn’t the only state being penalized for changing its primary date to a date that the party did not approve. http://www.nytimes.com/2007/08/29/washin… (This article focuses on the republican punishments, but does mention a few of the democratic punishments as well.)
Yes, I did know that. I live in Michigan. The only reason they did that was because they really didn’t get a notice about Michigan’s primary. Michigan signed up to be in this place just so they could be important in the campaigns, but what they did actually turned out to be more of a problem than a solution.
Did not know that. Wonder why he ran for president if he knew it was unconstitutional?
The number of delegates for Super Tuesday become increasingly important with the penalties heaped on the first primaries/caucases.
Since democrats in Michigan don’t have any delegates, i think that they should vote republican instead. not only would it show to the DNC that you are angry with them, but you would be able to sway the republican vote. i recommend voting Ron Paul. He is not a neocon like the rest of them and could be a fallback if your democratic candidate isn’t chosen.
