Should The ’superdelegates Keep The Results In Florida And Michigan In Mind ………?
2009 July 9
……..if they have to decide who the Dem nominee is?
These two states’ Democrat leaders jumped the gun, yet the people of Michigan and Florida went out and voted in record numbers. (For Hillary.)
Okay, let’s agree that ‘rules are rules’, so no delegates.
It’s also very unfair to deny Florida Democrats the opportunity of participating – especially after the highly suspicious Bush ‘victory’ there – but, ‘rules are rules’, so no delegates.
Should the ‘Superdelegates’ keep the results in Florida and Michigan in mind if they have to decide who the Dem nominee is?

Yes, at least in Florida and here’s why:
The Florida Democratic primary election ballot had all democratic candidates listed.
Florida Dems have been disenfranchised, through no fault of their own
HB537 was written by a Florida Republican to change Florida’s primary date.
A conflict between a state’s legislative rights and DNC & RNC rules caused this.
The Florida Democratic Party did NOT change this date.
The Florida legislature has an overwhelming Republican majority.
The state of Florida has a Republican Governor.
The citizens of the state of Florida did NOT vote on this date change.
HB537 was passed in May 2007 & legislatively changed the Florida primary date.
This date was, and still is, unalterable by the Florida Democrats. http://florida-delegates.com/
.
The rules were established before any votes were cast. In as much; is it fair to those who didn’t vote, because they knew that their ballots wouldn’t mustard? Is it fair to use the results; that may have had a different outcome; had their names been included on the ballot in Michigan? Neither state should be seated at the Convention; its simply by the rules and only the rules; unless we want havoc.
The Democrats decided before not to count the Delegates from Florida and Michigan. So why Hillary wants to change the rules in the middle of the game because she is behind. It just goes to show how under hand they could be. Hillary never thought she would have been in this situation. She taught she had a clear path to the White House. Like she was wrong when she voted for the War that cost the American people Billions and the lives she is wrong again.
Yeah they went for Hillary because she was the only one on the Ballot – All other names were off in accordance with the Agreement – Obama wasn’t even on the ballot to vote for. Hillary Cheated. And she still only got around 46% of the Vote – the other 54% were uncommited in Michigan – she came in second running against no one. Great victory
I certainly hope they do, since many in her own party are now chapped at Hillary for whining about Florida and Michigan. They’ll lean toward Obama. Just split the delegates in those states in half . That would be fair, but Hillary wants the whole pot. Well, I can see that. She is a desperate woman. She needs big wins on March 4. Campaigning in Texas will be expensive. Ohio has seven media stations… Texas has four times as many.
I was on the florida ballot, I just lost.
No they shouldn’t. Many voters in Michigan and Florida did not cast their vote because they were told that their vote would not count. So who knows if the results would have been different if they had known that their vote would count.
edit: And let me add that Hillary’s name was the only one on the ballot in Michigan so imagine how many Obama and Edwards supporters stayed home because they knew their candidates name was not on the ballot and that their vote wouldn’t count.
Yes, of course….the people’s vote should be the deciding factor in Florida and Michigan.
If it were the other way around…obama would be all over it like a fly on sh*t!
Hillary for PREZ!!!!!!
Florida’s delegates should be seated, not Michigans though. That’s just my opinion.
Superdelegates should vote the way they personally think is in the party’s best interest. That is the purpose of having them to begin with. Also, people are forgetting that Republicans and Independents are skewing the votes in our primaries. Different rules in different states at different times is not set up to be fair in any way. With the media, money, and bogus polls steering the election process, the whole thing needs to be revamped. We have two very strong democratic candidates this year. I say the candidate who does not get the party’s endorsement should run as an independent.
In FL maybe becasue I think all the names were on the ballot, but not Michigan, Obama’s name was not on the ballot because he agreed to remove it with the DNC, so did Clinton, but she changed here mind.
uncommited got almost 42% in MI, probably mostly for Obama, but we can’t know for sure.
these staes violated the rules and they should pay the penalty
I have a feeling that the committee that decides what to do with Florida and Michigan will be composed of super delegates.
Of course, Florida and Michigan will vote in the general elections.
Rookie boy posted ads there so he can’t say he was not interested in the primaries. Just prevaricating.
As a Floridian who did not vote, because we were told the votes for the primary would not count, I say a big NO.
The reason there was such a huge turnout was because there was also a homeowners tax vote and other things on the ballot.
Some people just went ahead and voted for a presidential candidate. Some didn’t.
Plus no one was allowed to campaign in Florida.
