Remember the Presidential primaries…..where every Democrat had a health care plan and a way to deal with environmental calamities we face, and some plan or principal on every issue.
While the whole Republican primary boiled down to ‘who can do the best Reagan impression’? No ideas. No answers. No solution for our health care system.
The real problem here is that the Republican party is ran by radicals. They are chasing away moderates (Specter and the gals in Maine are the last ones). Republicans hope to run conservative candidates against these folks in the primaries though, which should give a lock to any Democrat that runs, in these decisively blue states.
The far right wing of the Republican party can only exist in the South, and that’s because its base has always been propped on backlash to the Democratic support of the Civil Right laws. Reagan came to power on this backlash, and it has been played up to now.
The problem? That backlash is going away. Racism is fading. Most people realize that the Civil Rights movement was not just good, but essential. We are a generation past Civil Rights. This backlash doesn’t sell in the north, and is starting to fade, even in the South now. Want to see examples….just look at Virginia, North Carolina, Florida (all blue)…and where Georgia could be in 2012.
This probably would have happened sooner, but Bush played up the war and fear to win in 2004. Even in 2004, on issues, the people overwhelmingly support Democratic policies.
The trend since 2006 has been clear, and unless Republicans start to embrace moderates, some variety of opinion, in the party – the Democratic control will increase.

No, it isn’t. This isn’t the first time that Republicans have used hot-button words to scare America.
So, do you think this is just more of the same? And do we need to bow to the Republicans? Were they right about FDR?
In modern history, no president has been so excoriated as a socialist, communist and traitor to the American system than Roosevelt. His New Deal introduced half a dozen new types of government regulation and income redistribution.
In the 1930s, “the idea that the federal government would become involved not only in the economy but in social affairs was just unthinkable to many,” Conley said. “It didn’t represent what the U.S. was like until that point.”
Today, some of those programs are among the nation’s most widely accepted and popular – Social Security, mandatory bank-deposit insurance and regulation of securities sales.
But at the time, “the critics went berserk,” said John Belohlavek, a political historian at the University of South Florida and a Democrat.http://www2.tbo.com/content/2009/aug/02/…

But the corrupt DNC stole all of hillary’s delagates, and just gave them to Obama. Doesn’t the DNC realize that if they go against the will of the American people, they will LOSE in November? If they don’t pick the candidate that America wants (Hillary), all of Hillary’s supporters will vote for McCain in November. Of course I like that, since I ‘m a REpublican and I vote for McCain anyway, but even I have to admit that it isn’t fair to the majority of Democrats, since they mostly voted for Hillary and their votes were disreguarded.

The Federal Reserve bankrolls our corrupt govt. What would happen if you did an audit of the organization that bankrolls corruption?? Think we might find some corrupt politicians too?? (Kinda like roaches scurrying away during cleaning)http://www.politicallore.com/writers/sha…
On Wednesday a highlight of Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke’s testimony in front of the House Financial Services Committee was the five minutes he endured relentless questioning from Florida Democratic Congressman Alan Grayson. Grayson refused to allow Bernanke to avoid the question of why $500 billion had gone to foreign central banks instead of remaining in the United States. In the end Bernanke did not have any logical answers for Grayson.
That moment was a microcosm of something larger that is taking place in the House of Representatives as a result of HR 1207. Alan Grayson was the first Democrat who cosigned House Resolution 1207, Ron Paul’s bill to audit the Federal Reserve. Since Grayson cosponsored the bill over 90 of his fellow Democrats have followed.
HR 1207 is a perfect example of Congressmen willing to come together, though they might not agree across the spectrum of their political platforms, on an important issue by important issue basis.
So the question that keeps coming up is, “if HR 1207 has such tremendous bipartisan support, why is it still having a difficult time being brought to the House floor for a vote?”
The answer that Ron Paul continues to give is that the leadership in Congress want nothing to do with the bill, at least until it is substantially watered down.
The next question then becomes what does the leadership in the House (i.e. Nancy Pelosi, Barney Frank…etc.) have against having transparency in the Federal Reserve System?
I do not believe they have a vested interest in the continuing secrecy of the Federal Reserve System other than their interest to obey orders that are coming from President Obama’s administration.
Once the Obama Administration becomes the focus of the question the picture begins to come into focus.
Obama himself received over $1 million in campaign contributions from Goldman Sachs, an organization that has benefited greatly from the Fed’s recent actions.

I’m not doing this to offend republicans because I believe some of their leaders have good ideas. I respect republican leaders such as the governor of Florida. I was just wondering because it seems as if a lot of Republicans use to term socialism to describe Obama’s current policies. I am currently in mine thrid year of studying politcal ideologies at Exeter College, Oxford university and what is happening in America does not seem like socialism to me. I guess AI can see how many might consider the huge government intervention as necessary, but from what I have seen from the study of past recessions and depressions, it is necessary.
