1. There are two published lists of Chrysler dealerships. One includes the 789 dealers which will be closed by June 9. Those dealers who will be able to retain their franchises and acquire the assets of closing dealers in their areas are on the other. Both are in .PDF format.
2. An attorney for closed dealers deposed Chrysler president Jim Press and said that his impression is that the decisions on which Dealers will stay and which will go really wasn’t Chrysler’s, as the company is under considerable pressure from President Obama’s automotive task force.
3. Many of the Chrysler dealers on the closing list were heavy Republican donors. Some are sitting congressmen.
4. Among the dealers which were selected to remain in business are a number of outlets owned and operated by a partnership which includes among the partners former Clinton White House chief of staff Mack McLarty and Robert Johnson, founder of Black Entertainment Television (BET). Both have strong Democrat ties. McLarty campaigned for Obama, and Johnson has contributed heavily to Democrats, including Obama.
5. The latest finding from the closure list is that there appears to be “an extremely high correlation between dealers closing and congressional districts BHO lost.”
Texas is getting killed and Blue States are sliding by. Florida is also taking major hits and nearly all are in Republican Congressional Districts.
Little West Virginia is getting hammered.http://www.allpar.com/news/index.php/200…
Now in all fairness, it might be possible that more business owners are Republican than Democrat and as a result, more Republican dealerships would be closed. However, even if we accept the proposition that most car dealers are more likely to be Republican than Democratic donors, there would still be a “disparate impact” from closings on one class of dealers, compared to the other. When the federal courts see a disparate impact on racial groups, the policy or action in question is typically held to be inappropriate.
Race and car dealer closings, of course, aren’t analogous. But the lesson remains that when government makes economic decisions that ought to be left to the private market, it is impossible to avoid disparate impacts. And there is always the question of would the Obama White House be so quick to close hundreds of dealerships if the owners of those dealerships were predominantly Democratic donors?
Second, since neither Chrysler, nor the White House have made public the criteria used to select dealers for elimination – and because a significant number of those being closed were profitable – the only way to resolve the inevitable controversy about political considerations in political decisions is to make the criteria public and allow independent outside observers to assess how those criteria were applied.

DEMOCRAT:
You have two cows, your neighbor has none.
You feel guilty for being successful so you push for higher taxes so the government can buy cows for everyone.
You have to sell your cows to pay the taxes.
REPUBLICAN:
You have two cows, your neighbor has none.
So?
SOCIALIST:
You have two cows.
The government takes one of your cows and gives it to your neighbor.
You form a cooperative so that you can work your neighbors cow so he can have milk.
COMMUNIST:
You have two cows.
The government seizes both and provides you the milk.
You have to wait in line for hours to get it.
The milk is expensive and sour.
CAPITALISM:
You have two cows.
You sell one, buy a bull, and build a herd of cows.
You give milk to your neighbors in exchange for helping you take care of your cows.
Your neighbors are angry that you have so many cows.
BUREAUCRACY:
You have two cows.
The government pays you to shoot one, milk the other, and then pours the milk down the drain.
U.S CORPORATION:
You have two cows.
You sell one, lease it back to yourself and open an IPO on the other.
You force the two cows to produce the milk of four, and wonder why one drops dead. You spin an announcement to the analysts stating you are downsizing to cut costs. Your stock goes up.
FRENCH CORPORATION:
You have two cows.
You go on strike because you want three cows.
You go to lunch and drink wine.
JAPANESE CORPORATION:
You have two cows.
You redesign them so they are 1/10th the size of a standard cow.
Your cows are the top of their class.
GERMAN CORPORATION:
You have two cows.
You engineer them so they are all blond, drink lots of beer and produce excellent milk.
Unfortunately they also demand 13 weeks of vacation per year.
ITALIAN CORPORATION:
You have two cows but have no idea where they are.
You break for lunch.
RUSSIAN CORPORATION:
You have some cows.
You drink some vodka.
You recount and realize you have five cows.
You drink some more vodka.
You realize you have 42 cows.
The mafia shows up and seizes however many cows you do have.
TALIBAN CORPORATION:
You have all the cows in Afghanistan, which is two.
Your fundamentalist beliefs don’t allow you to milk them.
You get $40 million from the US government to find alternatives to milk but use the money to buy weapons.
IRAQI CORPORATION:
You have two cows.
They go into hiding and send tapes of their mooing.
POLISH CORPORATION:
You have two bulls.
Employees are regularly maimed attempting to milk them.
BELGIAN CORPORATION:
You have one cow.
It’s schizophrenic and switches between thinking it is French and Flemmish.
The French cow will not share with the Flemmish cow.
The Flemmish cow wants control of the French cows milk.
FLORIDA ELECTION PROCESS:
You have two cows, one black and one brown.
Everyone votes for the best looking one.
Some people who like the brown one best vote for the black one.
Some people vote for both.
Some people vote for neither.
Some people cannot figure out how to vote.
Finally some people from out of state tell you which one is the best looking cow.
CALIFORNIA:
You have millions of cows.
Only five speak English.
Most are illegal.
Arnold likes the ones with big udders.

I live in Florida and I’m not sure if this commercial was only shown in my area/state or across the country. Has one else seen it and thought the same thing?
I was watching tv a couple of days ago when in the shuffle of commercials interrupting my favorite show came a political commercial paid for by Barrack Obama. It was a typical political commercial showing working class families happy to show their support for the democrat candidate, until the end of the commercial…
At the end of the commercial after Barrack Obama said “I approve this message” or whatever, the words “Osama Binladen” flashed on the screen. When I first saw I swear it said Osama Binladen! Atleast that’s what I thought it was at first. Then I realized what was actually on the screen was “Obama Biden”, makes more sense?
I’m sure out of the people who saw that commercial that I am not the only one who thought that is what flashed on the screen. I mean if you really look at it, “Obama” can look like “Osama” and “Biden” looks like “Binladen”. It was really weird. I haven’t seen the commercial since, so Obama’s camp decided not to run that one again.

Hey, I just wrote this essay to apply to Georgetown University. Hopefully, you find it interesting but just a few questions. Like is it too out there and theoretical (makes sense when you read it)?
I was told to do this essay on a topic of your choice:
The months leading up to the 2008 presidential election were marked by an expectedly heightened interest in politics at my high school. Students divided themselves as democrats and republicans. Almost as historic as this election was to the nation, was a startling conclusion that I drew from it. I noticed with staggering uniformity that the students’ political parties were shared with their parents. I too was equally victim of this moral hijacking. Similarly, I found, in an even more disquieting trend, that all students shared a common religion with their families. While this may come as obvious, it has unsettling implications about the emergence of one’s character and overall personality.
Parents have this supreme influence over children’s political and religious orientations. The environment overall in which we all develop must have an omnipotent sway over our personality and moral fiber. Simply, why am I a devout Orlando Magic basketball fan, it is because I lived for over ten years in Orlando. I have a desire to be successful in the business world because I have experienced and detest economic mediocrity. I have since been plagued with the question, how much of me, actually is me? It’s something you cannot escape.
Inherent in the theory that environment controls your personality is the fundamental logic of cause and effect. I lived in the Florida sunshine for ten years; as a result, I dislike the New England cold. Even more pervading, all daily monotony is founded in this controlling principle of cause and effect. I am thirsty and therefore I drink, I aspire to attend Georgetown University therefore I am writing this essay. In biology, I have learned that many cellular mechanisms are regulated by surpluses of a particular compound and have a finite relationship between this cause and its affect on cellular metabolism. I see the conditions of society and our families to have a similar cause and effect on our development.
While the bondage of our environment is seemingly unbreakable in its influence on personality and even biological activity, one question pervades this cloud of hopelessness. In the absolute dawn of time, how could that original, catalytic activity have occurred without have its source rooted yet another cause? Even though the 2008 election caused and stimulated a helpless outlook my life, it nonetheless gave me a greater appreciation for life itself.

I just went on CNN web sight and found this story running on their ticker.
I really thought the the Republicans had already sunk as low as they could, but NO, I was wrong.
NEW YORK (CNN) — John McCain’s presidential campaign is making an 11th hour appeal to Cuban Americans in Florida with a robo-call that says Barack Obama would pursue “political policies like those of Cuba.”
The automated Spanish-language telephone calls began late this afternoon into Cuban households, particularly in and around the southern part of the state, and quote a Reuters story that says former Cuban leader Fidel Castro prefers Obama win the presidency.
McCain and Obama are in a fierce battle for Florida’s 27 electoral votes.
Translated script:
Urgent: I am calling on behalf of John McCain to tell you that today at 1:28 this afternoon the independent news organization of Reuters reported that the Cuban dictator, Fidel Castro, has given his support to Democrat Barack Obama for being smarter and more sophisticated than John McCain. Just like Hugo Chavez, Daniel Ortega, and Evo Morales – the brothers of Castro prefer Barack Obama. Don’t give Castro what he wants. Go vote right now for John McCain and avoid establishing in the United States political policies like those of Cuba. There are only a few hours left today to vote for John McCain. This call has been paid for by McCain/Palin 2008.http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/200…
Check it out for yourself if you don’t believe me. It even has a place you can click and hear the audio.
Thanks McCain and Palin for solidyfing my choice in Obama.

I am so sick of the games. This a political move and nothing more. During the debate the number one thing that would be discussed is the economy. McCain is very weak in this area, and he knows he will have issues. He has missed 412 votes out of 643 in the senate, but now he suddenly cares about whats going on? I can only hope that intelligent people will see through his crap. John McCain has missed more votes then any senator. Also, I am not a Barack Obama fan so spare me the back pedaling nonsense about how Barack is worse. Barack Obama was asked a series of question and here are the answers.
Question: Is McCain playing politics cancelling the debate?
Answer: This is exactly the time the American people need to hear from the people who will be dealing with this mess. … It’s more important than ever.
Lots of talk of bipartisanship … no bankruptcy reform in this package, and Republicans should hold off on their issues in this package.
Question: You staying in Florida or going back to DC?
Answer: If I can be helpful, I’ll go back. Talking to Paulson, Pelosi, Reid. As presidents, we’ll need to deal with more than one thing at a time.
Question: Should both you and McCain be present for vote for the package?
Answer: (Basically) yes, it’s important for the message.
Question: McCain has suspended his campaign ads … will you?
Answer: My general view is that the American people need to know what we’ll do to move the economy forward … I plan to debate.http://projects.washingtonpost.com/congr…http://www.americanprogressaction.org/is…

He’ll work for me. He’ll bring his organization with him.”

Obama has 277 electoral votes in states that are solidly Obama and leaning toward Obama. (270 are needed to win).
On top of that, he has leads in the battleground states of Florida, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Nevada, Colorado, and even North Carolina.
McCain’s leads in red states are far smaller than Bush had in 2000 and 2004, and he might even lose some of those races.
McCain’s smear tactics have backfired and he is now defending Obama at rallies, trying to put the “hate genie” back in the bottle. His attempt to package himself as a “reformer” have failed. His VP choice has been a disaster whose popularity is slipping in Alaska, and was just found by a panel of ten republicans and four democrats to have abused her gubernatorial powers. In short, he’s out of tricks.
Is there really anyone out there who thinks that McCain can possibly win the election? If so, please don’t just say “McCain/Palin ‘08!”; please explain how McCain can turn the numbers around. (And please bear in mind, everyone already knows all about Bill Ayers, Jeremiah Wright, ACORN, Obama’s attendance at a Muslim school, and that he tends to say “uh” while he’s formulating an intelligent answer).
