1. There are two published lists of Chrysler dealerships. One includes the 789 dealers which will be closed by June 9. Those dealers who will be able to retain their franchises and acquire the assets of closing dealers in their areas are on the other. Both are in .PDF format.
2. An attorney for closed dealers deposed Chrysler president Jim Press and said that his impression is that the decisions on which Dealers will stay and which will go really wasn’t Chrysler’s, as the company is under considerable pressure from President Obama’s automotive task force.
3. Many of the Chrysler dealers on the closing list were heavy Republican donors. Some are sitting congressmen.
4. Among the dealers which were selected to remain in business are a number of outlets owned and operated by a partnership which includes among the partners former Clinton White House chief of staff Mack McLarty and Robert Johnson, founder of Black Entertainment Television (BET). Both have strong Democrat ties. McLarty campaigned for Obama, and Johnson has contributed heavily to Democrats, including Obama.
5. The latest finding from the closure list is that there appears to be “an extremely high correlation between dealers closing and congressional districts BHO lost.”
Texas is getting killed and Blue States are sliding by. Florida is also taking major hits and nearly all are in Republican Congressional Districts.
Little West Virginia is getting hammered.http://www.allpar.com/news/index.php/200…
Now in all fairness, it might be possible that more business owners are Republican than Democrat and as a result, more Republican dealerships would be closed. However, even if we accept the proposition that most car dealers are more likely to be Republican than Democratic donors, there would still be a “disparate impact” from closings on one class of dealers, compared to the other. When the federal courts see a disparate impact on racial groups, the policy or action in question is typically held to be inappropriate.
Race and car dealer closings, of course, aren’t analogous. But the lesson remains that when government makes economic decisions that ought to be left to the private market, it is impossible to avoid disparate impacts. And there is always the question of would the Obama White House be so quick to close hundreds of dealerships if the owners of those dealerships were predominantly Democratic donors?
Second, since neither Chrysler, nor the White House have made public the criteria used to select dealers for elimination – and because a significant number of those being closed were profitable – the only way to resolve the inevitable controversy about political considerations in political decisions is to make the criteria public and allow independent outside observers to assess how those criteria were applied.

DEMOCRAT:
You have two cows, your neighbor has none.
You feel guilty for being successful so you push for higher taxes so the government can buy cows for everyone.
You have to sell your cows to pay the taxes.
REPUBLICAN:
You have two cows, your neighbor has none.
So?
SOCIALIST:
You have two cows.
The government takes one of your cows and gives it to your neighbor.
You form a cooperative so that you can work your neighbors cow so he can have milk.
COMMUNIST:
You have two cows.
The government seizes both and provides you the milk.
You have to wait in line for hours to get it.
The milk is expensive and sour.
CAPITALISM:
You have two cows.
You sell one, buy a bull, and build a herd of cows.
You give milk to your neighbors in exchange for helping you take care of your cows.
Your neighbors are angry that you have so many cows.
BUREAUCRACY:
You have two cows.
The government pays you to shoot one, milk the other, and then pours the milk down the drain.
U.S CORPORATION:
You have two cows.
You sell one, lease it back to yourself and open an IPO on the other.
You force the two cows to produce the milk of four, and wonder why one drops dead. You spin an announcement to the analysts stating you are downsizing to cut costs. Your stock goes up.
FRENCH CORPORATION:
You have two cows.
You go on strike because you want three cows.
You go to lunch and drink wine.
JAPANESE CORPORATION:
You have two cows.
You redesign them so they are 1/10th the size of a standard cow.
Your cows are the top of their class.
GERMAN CORPORATION:
You have two cows.
You engineer them so they are all blond, drink lots of beer and produce excellent milk.
Unfortunately they also demand 13 weeks of vacation per year.
ITALIAN CORPORATION:
You have two cows but have no idea where they are.
You break for lunch.
RUSSIAN CORPORATION:
You have some cows.
You drink some vodka.
You recount and realize you have five cows.
You drink some more vodka.
You realize you have 42 cows.
The mafia shows up and seizes however many cows you do have.
TALIBAN CORPORATION:
You have all the cows in Afghanistan, which is two.
Your fundamentalist beliefs don’t allow you to milk them.
You get $40 million from the US government to find alternatives to milk but use the money to buy weapons.
IRAQI CORPORATION:
You have two cows.
They go into hiding and send tapes of their mooing.
POLISH CORPORATION:
You have two bulls.
Employees are regularly maimed attempting to milk them.
BELGIAN CORPORATION:
You have one cow.
It’s schizophrenic and switches between thinking it is French and Flemmish.
The French cow will not share with the Flemmish cow.
The Flemmish cow wants control of the French cows milk.
FLORIDA ELECTION PROCESS:
You have two cows, one black and one brown.
Everyone votes for the best looking one.
Some people who like the brown one best vote for the black one.
Some people vote for both.
Some people vote for neither.
Some people cannot figure out how to vote.
Finally some people from out of state tell you which one is the best looking cow.
CALIFORNIA:
You have millions of cows.
Only five speak English.
Most are illegal.
Arnold likes the ones with big udders.

Miami Cuban-Americans muted on Obama policy shift
By LAURA WIDES-MUNOZ – 5 hours ago
MIAMI (AP) — Just a few years ago, any U.S. president who suggested restoring relations with Fidel Castro’s Cuban government would have been loudly called a communist or worse on the streets and airwaves of Miami. Protests would have sprung up, and Cuban-Americans who offered their support would have feared being blacklisted.
But when President Barack Obama last week made the most significant gesture in decades toward opening dialogue with the communist island, reaction from the nation’s largest Cuban exile community and anti-Castro hub was barely a whisper.
The muted response, from the heart of Little Havana to the elegant suburbs of Coral Gables, crystalized the generational and demographic shift in Cuban-American politics long coming to Miami and the nation, a shift that has in part fueled the president’s ability to push U.S. policy in a new direction.
There were no anti-Obama rallies, few protests. Even Armando Perez Roura, the hardline host of the Spanish-language exile broadcast Radio Mambi, began his drive-time morning show talking baseball.
That there was no news in Miami following Obama’s appearance at the Summit of the Americas in Trinidad was the news. During the meeting last week of more than 30 heads of state, Obama said the U.S. is seeking a new beginning with Cuba but also called on the communist island to release political prisoners and embrace democratic freedoms.
Cuba President Raul Castro responded that his government would be happy to discuss those issues as long as its sovereignty is respected.
Many former critics say they now realize that the U.S. government’s five-decade isolation of Cuba has produced few results — the Castros still have a lock on power — so maybe it’s time for a new approach.
In the past decade, Cuban-Americans have risen to unprecedented political heights, with two cabinet members, congressmen, senators and a key role in propelling George W. Bush to the White House in 2000, said Joe Garcia, a Miami Democrat and former head of the Cuban-American National Foundation, an exile group.
“But on the one issue that kept Cuban-Americans together, Cuba, nothing changed,” he said.
The frustration with the status quo, even after an ill Fidel Castro handed power over to his younger brother Raul two years ago, has only grown. That, coupled with Obama winning Florida and the presidency even though a majority of Cuban-Americans voted for John McCain, has tempered the rhetoric and politics of many local leaders.
Add to the mix the desire of newer Cuban immigrants to retain ties to family on the island, and the ground was ripe for both Obama’s gestures at the summit, and his earlier decision to lift Bush administration limits on remittances and travel to visit family in Cuba. Since 2004, Cuban-Americans could send only small amounts of money and travel there only once every three years. Now they can travel and send as much money as they want.
Obama’s gesture was hardly a surprise. He tested the waters in Miami during the 2007 presidential primaries by promising to lift the travel ban and seek dialogue with Raul Castro.
“He didn’t go up in flames, and no one threw stones, so it was only a matter of time,” said Garcia, whose parents fled Cuba in the 1960s.
Since then, Obama has received political cover from some Cuban-American leaders like Bay of Pigs veteran Francisco J. Hernandez, current head of the foundation, who now supports contact with the island. And Obama has been careful not to alienate moderate Cuban-Americans by avoiding for now the broader trade embargo, in place for nearly five decades.
The president, born after the 1950s Cuban Revolution, has also tapped a new generation of Cuban-Americans from Miami to help direct policy, including Frank Mora, who will oversee U.S. defense policy in the Americas.
Asked by a caller about the 45-year-old Mora, who graduated from a Miami school founded by exiled Cuban Jesuits, Radio Mambi’s Perez Roura was uncharacteristically stumped.
“I don’t know him,” he admitted, in another sign of the divide between generations.
Nearby in Little Havana, Karelia Alsaro, 31, who arrived in Miami from Cuba six months ago, said she left her mother behind and is relieved she will be able to visit more frequently under new regulations. The former secretary hopes the conciliatory tone of the summit will lead to more action.
“If it’s just words, they are saying them very well, because we are believing them,” said Alsaro, as she pounded the pavement looking for work. “The next step has to be the Cuban government responding.”
Alsaro holds out little hope that change will come under the 77-year-old Raul Castro.
“But I believe that in a future not too far from now, it will happen,” she said.
Even those in the younger generation who opposed the president’s policies were restrained.
“It’s naive of him, and I think

Why is it that people complain about New Orleans getting rebuilt, because its below sea level, when other places are even in more danger, but people don’t seem to mind rebuilding there. What makes us less important then the rest of the country?
Maybe cause;
Partly it’s because the news media views New Orleans as a “bad news” story for the Bush administration. The media is campaigning for a Democrat to be the next President so nothing positive is ever reported about the federal efforts here. Watch for the change if a Democrat is elected in November (especially if it’s Hillary Clinton). The incoming Democrat will be given credit for “saving” New Orleans even before they take office in January.
Partly it’s because New Orleans has always been tolerant of alternate lifestyles, and that resulted in many hate sermons from “pastors” and “reverends” who said NOLA was destroyed for our sins. After all, the bars don’t have to close, stores sell alcohol on Sundays, and there are even strip clubs – obviously New Orleans DESERVED to be visited by the Wrath of God. Right?
Partly it’s because of out-and-out racism. The video of looters helped cement any stereotypes people elsewhere might already have.
Partly it’s because people think New Orleans is only about Jazz, Mardi Gras, and Bourbon Street. They don’t realize NOLA is an essential element of the USA’s critical national infrastructure and it CAN’T be moved. They also seem to think New Orleans is only the French Quarter (10 blocks by 13 blocks) and don’t realize it is a metro area with a population well over a million.
Partly it’s because of the awful performances by ex-Governor Blanco and Mayor Nagin. No one likes a loser. In this case, twin losers.
also
New Orleans is not below sea level. Most of the city and metro area are above sea level and the parts below are usually only a little below SL.
New Orleans is NOT prone to being hit by hurricanes and – despite at least one answer – has NOT been repeatedly flooded. The last hurricane to strike the city before Katrina was Betsy in 1965, which did not flood the city-proper. Before that was a storm in 1947 (hurricanes weren’t named until the 1950s), which also did not flood the city-proper.
New Orleans had a very high rate of flood insurance coverage at the time Katrina hit – one of the highest in the nation. I don’t know where this idea that “no one in New Orleans had insurance” comes from, but I see it all the time.
Katrina was the most powerful storm ever recorded to strike North America. It would have flooded any coastal city, but it happened to hit New Orleans.
Nowhere is without risk. New York, Baltimore, & Miami are much greater risk from hurricanes than New Orleans. Los Angeles and San Francisco have been rebuilt after multiple earthquakes. The Midwest is hit by tornadoes every year. Seattle has to worry about volcanoes and even Tsunamis. Florida is hit by hurricanes almost every year. And so on – but somehow ONLY New Orleans is “unworthy” of being rebuilt.
Go figure

Barack Obama, by not including Florida and Michigan delegates in the delegate total (and therefore the majority necessary to become the nominee), and by suggesting that rather than winning his own share of delegates, he actually win 50% (his actual percentage was closer to 30%), is effectively disenfranchising Floridians and Michiganites. In 2000, several hundred disputed votes in the national election caused an immense uproar, with Democrats claiming that these voters were disenfranchised and that the process was undemocratic. Yet in 2008, Obama and his ilk are doing the same thing on a much larger scale. How can Obama, for example, consider himself the nominee when several hundred thousand votes are simply not counted?
Yes, he is going by the “rules”. But that is really a copout, a weak excuse for the purpose of political expedience. Thoreau, Ghandi, and Martin Luther King all fought unjust “laws”. The DNC’s rules are clearly undemocratic. So why isn’t Obama standing up for voters?

I am so sick of the games. This a political move and nothing more. During the debate the number one thing that would be discussed is the economy. McCain is very weak in this area, and he knows he will have issues. He has missed 412 votes out of 643 in the senate, but now he suddenly cares about whats going on? I can only hope that intelligent people will see through his crap. John McCain has missed more votes then any senator. Also, I am not a Barack Obama fan so spare me the back pedaling nonsense about how Barack is worse. Barack Obama was asked a series of question and here are the answers.
Question: Is McCain playing politics cancelling the debate?
Answer: This is exactly the time the American people need to hear from the people who will be dealing with this mess. … It’s more important than ever.
Lots of talk of bipartisanship … no bankruptcy reform in this package, and Republicans should hold off on their issues in this package.
Question: You staying in Florida or going back to DC?
Answer: If I can be helpful, I’ll go back. Talking to Paulson, Pelosi, Reid. As presidents, we’ll need to deal with more than one thing at a time.
Question: Should both you and McCain be present for vote for the package?
Answer: (Basically) yes, it’s important for the message.
Question: McCain has suspended his campaign ads … will you?
Answer: My general view is that the American people need to know what we’ll do to move the economy forward … I plan to debate.http://projects.washingtonpost.com/congr…http://www.americanprogressaction.org/is…

22.) I Wrote A Tough Nuclear Bill – LIAR, your bill was rejected by your own party for its pandering and lack of all regulation – mainly because of your Nuclear Donor, Exelon, from which David Axelrod came.
45.) I Have Always Been Against Iraq – LIAR, you weren’t in office to vote against it AND you have voted to fund it every single time, unlike Kucinich, who seems to be out gutting you Obama. You also seem to be stepping back from your departure date – AGAIN.
46.) I Have Always Supported Universal Health Care – LIAR, your plan leaves us all to pay the 15,000,000 who don’t have to buy it.
49.) My Wife Didn’t Mean What She Said About Pride In Country – LIAR, your wife’s words follow lock-step in the vain of Wright and Farrahkan, in relation to their contempt and hatred of America.
50.) Wal-Mart Is A Company I Wouldn’t Support – LIAR, your wife has received nearly a quater of a million dollars through Treehouse, which is connected to Wal-Mart.
51.) Treehouse Is A Small Company – LIAR, the CEO of Treehouse last year, made more than the CEO of Wal-Mart, according to public records.
52.) University Of Chicago Hospital Pay Is Fair – LIAR, your wife’s pay raise was nearly 150% her already bloated rate and the hospital is a Non-Profit Hospital, which made $100,000,000 in the last 3 years. They overcharge blacks VS whites for services, and overcharge everyone in general by 538%!
53.)I Barely Know Rezko – Only 5 Billed Hours – LIAR, you have known him for 17 years, and decided to do a real estate deal with him during a time when he was proven to be under investigation. Despite this, you divided your property and had them take off $300K before the mortgage problems started. Then Rezko’s wife buys the lot beside it that you can’t afford, saving you $625,000.
54.) My Donations Have Been Checked Thoroughly – LIAR, you only gave back Hsu ($72K) and Rezko ($150K) their money when publically called on their involvement in your campaigns.
55.) My Church Is Like Any Other Christian Church – LIAR, your church is so extreme, the pastor who married you, Rev. Wright, just got done blaming the US for 9/11 and named Louis Farrahkan their person of the year.
56.) I Disagree With My Church All The Time – LIAR, you still have yet to repudiate Wright, who married you and your wife, and you still donate large sums of money to assist the church in furthering its message – hatred and revenge. You donated in 2006 alone, $22,500 to the church that you so terribly disagree with. That is nearly $500 PER WEEK – that sure is disagreement, Senator Obama.
57.) I Have Clean Connections Despite Rezko – LIAR, you are not only connected to Exelon and Rezko, you are also connected to Hillary PAC supporter Mr. Hsu, AND an Iraqi Billionaire of ill repute, Nadhmi Auchi, who ripped off people in the Food For Oil, Iraqi deal. Seems Mr. Auchi may have helped Obama buy his million dollar property long before Obama had millions of dollars. Wonder what favors Mr. Auchi expects, when Obama leaves Iraq free to be taken over by special interests such as him.
58.) I never heard sermons like Rev. Wright’s, that have been in videos all day, You Tube – LIAR! 3 days later during your Mea Culpa BS speech you said “Did I hear controversial statements while sitting in the pew yes!”
59.) Iran is a tiny threat!..not Iran is killing us!!!!!!!
60.) Obama is for public funding until he gets $250,000,000, and now he is against it!
61) Obama just came out and said that he has ALWAYS considered the right to bear arms an individual right. LIAR! You said in February that you agreed with the Washington D.C. gun ban, and that it was Constitutional!
62) Obama is now running a commercial claiming credit for Welfare reform. REPUBLICANS did welfare reform. His numbers are even lying. He claims 80% when it is actually 60%.

But this popularity is precarious. People like Obama far more than they like his policies. And even though they think the country is moving in the right direction, polls show this to be one of those rare periods where those same people remain unsatisfied with their lives. In a portent of what he might do.
There is good reason for this. On the one hand, Obama has got out in front of his agenda. In some sense, he has never really stopped campaigning. He has conducted town hall meetings everywhere from Indiana to Istanbul, and appeared on Jay Leno’s couch.
And, making buddies with the likes of Castro and Chavez.
All this, for what good to the average American who is hurting badly! ,
Almost every element in Obama’s agenda is showing the predicted signs of failure that expert political experts predicted. The war in Afghanistan is failing, the spending pork filled bill, (oh, excuse me ), the ” stimulus” package is inadequate, the many billion dollar bailouts are rightly unpopular, unemployment is still rising, (to a tune of over 20,000 lost jobs each day he was/is president. The house prices are still falling miserabaly.
Obama’s administration for all his talk of bipartisanship and national unity; is also a failure. He is the most polarising president since such records began. The gap between how Democrats and Republicans rate him at this stage is greater than Bush in 2001 after Florida and twice as high as Nixon’s during the height of the Vietnam war in 1969. This is partly because Obaamas, who give him an 88% approval rating, adore him. The Obama badges are still on and the posters are still up. They no longer refer to hope, but reality. The likeness they bear no longer represents an alternative to power but power itself. But obaamas are not the only ones who find it difficult to move on from the symbolic attachment of those first days.
Many conservatives compare Obama to Stalin, Hitler or Jimmy Carter – and accuse him of being a socialist, a fascist and an appeaser. The concerns they voice about the budget deficit, government intervention and inflation are valid, .
Maybe Obama should have learned to play guitar; and have become a popular rock star.
His first 100 days have shown that he is not capable at anything but showing popularity.;and based upon the facts, nothing about what/how a president should be.
But, maybe that is what he wants; to be popular.
Do you agree?
