Remember the Presidential primaries…..where every Democrat had a health care plan and a way to deal with environmental calamities we face, and some plan or principal on every issue.
While the whole Republican primary boiled down to ‘who can do the best Reagan impression’? No ideas. No answers. No solution for our health care system.
The real problem here is that the Republican party is ran by radicals. They are chasing away moderates (Specter and the gals in Maine are the last ones). Republicans hope to run conservative candidates against these folks in the primaries though, which should give a lock to any Democrat that runs, in these decisively blue states.
The far right wing of the Republican party can only exist in the South, and that’s because its base has always been propped on backlash to the Democratic support of the Civil Right laws. Reagan came to power on this backlash, and it has been played up to now.
The problem? That backlash is going away. Racism is fading. Most people realize that the Civil Rights movement was not just good, but essential. We are a generation past Civil Rights. This backlash doesn’t sell in the north, and is starting to fade, even in the South now. Want to see examples….just look at Virginia, North Carolina, Florida (all blue)…and where Georgia could be in 2012.
This probably would have happened sooner, but Bush played up the war and fear to win in 2004. Even in 2004, on issues, the people overwhelmingly support Democratic policies.
The trend since 2006 has been clear, and unless Republicans start to embrace moderates, some variety of opinion, in the party – the Democratic control will increase.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iLx7Xt789…

But here is the reason, the Hispanic boom that has been talked about for over a decade now. To the people who say there’s no way the Hispanic population can shoot up that much in 4 years, well they dont have to. They’re already here, and you can make all the silly racial jokes you want about Hispanics having a lot of children but the fact of the matter is ….there were a lot of teenagers 14,15,15,17 who couldnt vote in the 2008 election that will be able to in 2012, They will be 18, 19, 20, 21. And all the pundits are saying this year of 2012 is suppose to be the famous year that the Hispanic boom really shows its face and becomes a MAJOR impact on the future of the election as we know it. If the democrats start to take Texas then you might as well give it up. They wont even need Ohio or Florida.

I was examining US census of education attainment by state. Then what crossed my mind was if the state was usually pro republican or pro democrat.
Something I noticed is a large majority of pro republican states had less educational attainment of high school diploma and some college. A majority of pro democratic states had higher educational attainment of bachelor degree or higher.
A few states that defied that trend was Utah, Florida, Kansas, North Carolina, and Pennsylvania.
What do you think of this trend?
Is this just an odd phenomenon or might there be some reason to this correlation?
Thank you for your time and answers.

Jewsvote.org just sent us this update of how Jewish voters in Florida are being targeted in a new smear campaign to undermine Obama.
Joelna Marcus received a phone call to her Key West residence that went like this:
She was asked if she is Jewish, and she replied in the affirmative.
She was asked if she was religious.
She was then asked if her opinion of Barack Obama would change if she knew that Obama had given lots and lots of money to the PLO.
Joelna told me the caller admitted that the calls were meant for Jews only. And the firm sending the calls, Research Strategies, has a history of working for Republican candidates.
This is just the beginning, and it will only get worse.
Jewsvote.org formed because whether we like it or not, these tactics work. The idea is that the site will be one means for fighting back against these smear campaigns, which will only continue to ramp up in the next eight weeks. So, whether you use Jewsvote.org as a tool or not, the point is that we can’t do nothing. If emails aren’t your thing, then maybe you want to join folks in Florida in the upcoming weeks.
Jewsvote.org will also be launching TheGreatSchlep.com, riffing off of Mik’s previous work in Operation Bubbe, organizing young Jews to go to Florida and mobilize to ensure our elders go out and vote. This time though, it’s not just escorting people to the polls — it’s talking to your grandparents, or your friends grandparents, or friends of friends, and their friends, and their friends friends, to dispel the smear campaigns, and to let them know why if they believe in wanting our future to be as bright as they want it to be, that Obama is the direction we need.

While President George W. Bush has maintained neutrality among contenders for the Republican presidential nomination, he privately expresses to friends his exasperation with Mitt Romney’s hard-line stance on immigration.
Bush is upset that Romney changed his position on the issue, compared to what it had been when he was governor of Massachusetts, at the expense of the president’s immigration reform. Bush and Sen. John McCain are not close, but the president is grateful for McCain’s support on Iraq and immigration.
A footnote: The president’s younger brother, former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush, has not endorsed any presidential candidate. But he and his political allies were behind Romney’s losing effort in last Tuesday’s Florida primary.

MSNBC just announced that Hillary is getting Hispanic votes at a rate twice her nearest rival who is also for amnesty with in-state tuition, driver’s licenses, and a path for citizen for anyone who butted in the immigration line. They have already given Hillary Nevada and Florida and New Jersey, and McCain Florida and South Carolina and Illinois, making both frontrunners for President. They have cast their votes as a block to keep any candidate less favorable to amnesty from even getting traction. This will likely continue to the general election where McCain’s support will then desert him and new amnesty voters and their families will give the Democrats a block of support that will keep them in power about 30 years. And the goodies will keep on coming and fairness and the needs of the American taxpayer be damned. Sort of like Mexican politics.
