Why Don’t Conservative Republican’s Like Mccain?

Besides the fact he is pro-life, used to be a Democrat, seems to not know much about the economy,is pro-amnesty and doesn’t speak much about his faith.
The Republican voters obviously see something huge in this guy that they don’t. What is it?
What do the conservative Republican’s think about his Florida victory? Are they nail biting right about now?
Also, are the Republican party voters really swaying away from the traditional conservative values they have always looked for in their candidate?

Personally, I think everyone is too hung up on the fact that he was a POW. I think people automatically give him a free pass to have crappy policies just because he endured that hardship. Don’t get me wrong, his service to the country should not go overlooked, but his position on most issues definitely doesn’t represent the values of the traditional Republican conservative. If Romney doesn’t get the nomination, I’ll have lost all hope in the Republican party, and even with him, I’ll still remain very weary. McCain is nothing more than a Democrat in disguise.

    isn’t that the definition of a “neo-con”?
    fake conservative?
    or more like NON-conservative.
Mr. McCain’s record speaks for itself.
anther question is- Are democrats thrilled?

Independents are swaying the results. You answered your own question in your first sentence.

I am totally baffled by his victories. I don’t like his politics, or much else about him. Wouldn’t vote for him or Hill. They both make me sick.

Because he is a liberal republican. The only thing keeping him from getting my vote is the amnesty. Could you imagine another 1986? That was supposedly a one time deal, and all it did was bring millions more illegal immigrants in. Immigration reform is the answer, not another amnesty.

McCain is not a Conservative, the guy tried to sneak illegal immigrant amnesty by Americans, literally in the middle of the night.
It’s the liberal media that loves him as a fall back to Clinton or Obama.
    Just in case, you know.

I like him ONLY because of his position on raq. I think that is the issue of greatest concern right now, we can deal with the Illegals State by State (thank GOD I live in Oklahoma). All other issues take a back seat to an impending World War….

I think it has something to do with his stance on immigration

Conservative Republicans do not liek McCain because he is to liberal. The reason Republican voters seem to be in favor of him is because there is not much else to choose from. The Republicans needed a strong canidate to run this year and they did not deliever.

He’s a liberal. McCain/Feingold and McCain/Kennedy are two good reasons not to like him.
Amnesty john doesn’t stand a chance.

Because he doesn’t stand in lock-step with them at all times. He’s a hot head.

I don’t consider myself necessarily conservative (lean that way but not ALL the way), and I can’t really tell you why I don’t like McCain. There’s just something about him that makes my skin crawl. Wish I could put a voice to it but as yet I can’t. I’m in the Romney camp on the Republican side but I have not yet made a choice for certain.

I don’t know. It might be that he seems to favor amnesty for illegal immigrants. My husband likes McCain but my dad doesn’t. My father likes Ron Paul. Of all the Republican candidates, I like Ron Paul and John McCain. I’m a democrat. I like Dennis Kucinich. I think both parties have lost their focus. It’s disappointing. They have sold out because they want to win. That’s what it’s all about. That’s disingenuous to the American people but not enough people seem bothered by it or aren’t bothered enough.

Yes, unfortuantely they are, I am a registered Republican and i certainly am not a McCain fan, I was really disappointed in Fred Thompsons performance, I think he a true conservative and the only one in the race. I like Ron Paul, execpt for his stance on the war, and like Huckabee for his ideas of a fair tax, right now, if I were to be “polled” I am “undecided.”

No, I think a lot of conservatives realize that we are the ones who will have to make the move to unify the country.McCain is someone who has appeal to both sides. He may not be ideal, but our nation needs some healing.
I am still undecided at this point.
